What is the Triple Pitch?
The Triple Pitch is a pitch in softball developed by coach Jerry Johnson of Mountain State University. In this informative dvd Coach Johnson teaches you drills and mechanics to further help intermediate and even advanced pitchers.
A new pitch for your arsenal! a combination of a curveball, dropball and a changeup. Due to it's unique spin, it's very effective; the ball gets a slight curve with a very slight drop and crosses the plate about knee high after traveling on a 11-to-5 path. Coach Johnson breaks through with an approach that takes players from the basics of the triple pitch to useful exercises that will further hone the pitcher's ability. After teaching the mechanics and initial theory, he will take you on-field starting you off with a release drill, then to a drill on ball movement, after that you utilize a location drill called the rope drill.
About the Coach Jerry Johnson
Jerry Johnson has coached and been involved in every level of fastpitch softball for over 30 years in West Virginia. Johnson became Greenbrier West High School's first softball coach in 1996 and remained there until 2004.
In 2004 he was given the pitching coach position on the Mountain State University Lady Cougars softball team in Beckley. The following season he added the assistant coach position to his duties. Currently he also organizes and participates in pitching clinics throughout Southern West Virginia and in his spare time he gives private pitching lessons.
