Johnigan demonstrates proper throwing and catching techniques. He also demonstrates the techniques of throwing and the importance of playing a good game of catch, the grip, 4 seam, and the release of the ball. He demonstrates the techniques of catching and the importance of moving the feet, above the waist and fingers up, below waist palm up, and the use of two hands. He also discusses flyballs and line drives. Drills for proper throwing techniques, proper catching techniques, flyballs, and line drives are demonstrated.

Coach Johnigan covers proper throwing mechanics and the correct techniques for catching fly balls, line drives, or thrown balls. He repeatedly stresses the importance of playing a good game of catch, which is often overlooked by coaches at all levels.

About the Coach

Steve Johnigan has spent 11 years on the coaching staff of Baylor University, where he coaches the infielders and catchers and assists with hitting instruction and baserunning. He also serves as the director of the Baylor Bear baseball camps and coordinates the yearly Baylor Coaching Clinic for high school coaches in Texas.

A graduate of Texas A&M, Johnigan was a two-year starter for the Aggies at catcher and was named the team's captain in his senior season. He then played two years with the Cleveland Indians organization. After his playing days were over, Johnigan spent four years as an assistant coach at Mississippi State, where he received a master's degree in education in 1991.
