In my opinion, too many people do not consider purchasing an arm-style pitching machine. Yet I can't imagine any pro club living without one. Maybe it's because you just see so many of the wheel-type machines or maybe it is because of the intimidating, industrial look of an arm-style machine.
Please give these machines a long look and consider them strongly before you make a decision... Here's why:
They really are not very complicated to set up, to use, to adjust and especially, to maintain. There's not much to replace and what parts you might need are readily available and inexpensive. They are meant to live outside, do not require extra auto feeders and throw consistent strikes without adjustment. We even include remote controls with most models and packages for single player use!
If your need is for a pitching machine that will last for years and doesn't need to be moved or transported often, then these machines are a great choice. And when the time comes to consider selling it, there always seems to be a local buyer.
If there is a downside to them it would be that they only throw a straight pitch. But consider this... The very first thing any successful hitter must do to stay in the game is to eliminate the pitchers best pitch, his fastball! If he can't...he better be a pitcher!!
Differences between the Hopper Fed & Pro Hopper Fed
The Pro Hopper Fed includes the Positive Feed Control, which ensures that real leather baseballs with seams flow properly onto the arm. The Feed Control shakes the balls to prevent them from jamming together. The Pro Hopper Fed also has more reinforced steel on the machine's frame to protect it against batted balls, meaning you don't have to buy the machine guard.
Iron Mike Warranty
All Iron Mike machine motors are covered under a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.
Electronic circuit boards on the control system are warranted against component failure for 30 days after installation or a maximum of 60 days after shipment from the factory. The warranty on electronic circuit boards does not cover damage caused by severe electrical surges, electrical storms or accidental damage by servicing technicians.
Specifically excluded from automatic warranty replacement are pitching hands, pitching arms, power cables, and power springs.
