As with all Brett Baseball products.

These batting helmets were field tested and approved by Hall of Famer George Brett!

Certified by NOCSAE for its safety, the Brett baseball batting helmet has up to 2 times more padding than most major brands. The shell is made of high impact ABS. The helmet's 14 vents will keep players cooler and allow for better hearing ability!

Brett helmets are known for their comfort and snug fit. You won't find a better looking helmet and the high gloss "hardshell" paint doesn't easily flake or chip!

We include nylon chinstraps; facemasks are optional. The batting helmet is very lightweight and is one size fits most with the dimensions fitting head sizes 6¼" - 7½".

Multicolored Batting Helmet Colors

All helmets are two-toned, with a black gradient fading into your choice of color:

Baseball Batting Helmets

In my opinion, every player should have his own helmet... whether it is required or not! It should be in good shape, it must be worn properly (yes, there is a wrong way) and should fit snugly, while providing good visibility and allowing the player to hear the game well too.

The Day I Became A Believer

I had the sickening experience of watching and hearing my own son, then a college player, take a direct shot to the temple. Believe me, I was NOT thinking how proud I was that my leftie hung in there against a hard throwing left-handed college pitcher. My concern was would he get up. Stunned but not hurt, he exchanged his now shattered batting helmet for another... and promptly stole 2nd (we all brag a little... right!). More importantly, he was OK and cleared during and after the game...but did not attend the post-game party (his club beat the #1 ranked team in their division).

So, when you see your own player with a round bruise on the side of his head you also might be thankful for the little things... like good equipment that fits correctly!

Coach JP's Tips

My own son "waited" 20 years to take such a hard hit... and chances are most players never will. But it is important to teach players how to get out of the way without fear... by turning the body away from the pitch. Like anything else, it needs to be taught and not assumed.

The key tips to remember:

The trunk, front shoulder and head all turn away from the direction of the pitch and toward the catcher.

(Note that all good baseball batting helmets are deigned to provide good coverage below the ear and toward the neck area for this reason).

A Simple Drill

Players need practice at protecting themselves from the inside pitch. Even the younger players need to know how. You know they think about it anyway, so let's empower them!

During soft toss drills or even batting practice (adjust distances for your age group) and using tennis balls, safety balls or whiffles, mix up pitch locations from strikes to throwing inside, plunking the hitter now and again (yes, you certainly can toss underhand when close in or with younger players).

Doing this will help players get used to the idea of protecting themselves [by using the tips above] and reducing the fear-factor. Be vocal in your rewards for this "bravery."

Every high school & college baseball coach starts each season with a quantity of new helmets (NOCSAE certified with good padding, good feel, and designed to fit various sized players).

Every youth baseball coach should start each season the same way (it's like new clothes and supplies on the first day of school). This applies to any and all age groups. But please never buy cheap when it comes to protective equipment!

Good and cheap just do not go together, especially with your ballplayers!

What is NOCSAE Approved?

NOCSAE develops performance standards for protective equipment used in a variety of sports, including baseball.

Who is NOCSAE?

Since its inception in 1969, the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) has been a leading force in the effort to improve athletic equipment and as a result, reduce injuries. NOCSAE research efforts have also led to a better understanding of the mechanism and tolerance of head and neck injuries.

he NOCSAE organization is comprised of representatives from a number of groups which have an interest in athletic equipment. These include manufacturers, reconditioners, athletic trainers, coaches, equipment managers, sports medicine and consumer organizations. These diverse interests have joined forces in an attempt to arrive at a common goal of reducing sports-related injuries.
