What Coach JP Says about the Grand Slam
Hitting a round ball with a rounded bat. It is the single most difficult individual feat in any sport.
Eye-hand coordination is a skill where any player can improve his swing...dramatically raising his batting average... and confidence!
It pitches hollow plastic golf balls every 5 seconds using forced air.
You load the machine with up to 60 balls, flip a switch and get "in the box" around 20 feet from the machine. Every 5 seconds (approx), one of the balls enters the chamber and pitches…
How About 50 in less than 5 minutes and NO CAGE NEEDED!
Practice bunting and swinging away, as well as advanced training such as opposite field hitting, slash bunting and situation drills.
The balls actually move, simulating fastballs, curveballs, sliders, etc. The higher the velocity, the more movement you will see. This forces the batter to read, adjust and react to each and every pitch…
Note that part of the lesson learned from this machine is simply that you do not swing at everything a pitcher throws…you swing at YOUR pitch… especially until two strikes!
This raises eye - hand coordination to levels far beyond any players' present abilities! It also teaches an understanding of the strike zone. This is great knowledge for any age player!

Every swing gets meaningful!
It's Focused & It's Fun! As coaches and parents, we can talk about things like hand speed, hand eye coordination and how it will help a player understand the strike zone…AND IT'S TRUE! But the bottom line is… IT'S ABSOLUTELY A LOT OF FUN! And lets face it, if it's all the great things that we say it is but it's no fun… players won't use it!
Players really like using it and the fun part keeps them coming back & improving. I have tested it on 9 year olds and 12 year olds; it really lights them up. Some of my 15-16 year old team fight for position in line.
To immediately increase confidence in players around T ball age or for inexperience players, I recommend that you also purchase what we used to call a "Fat Albert" wiffle ball bat. They are around 3 times the diameter of a normal bat and are available at stores like Wal Mart for around $3. Start them with this bat before elevating them to their own bat. The older players love to play home run derby with the Fat Albert bat as well. It's great competition!
Your Grand Slam is an entire system and includes much more than just the machine. You get 60 balls, a huge net for basement or garage use and a hitting stic-bat made of heavy PVC tubing with a leather batting grip to increases the player's focus. Add the ability to change the velocity of the pitch and adjust the distance between batter and machine.
You Will Never Outgrow It's Capabilities
Think of it as a dimmer switch. Why it is worth it is simply that it gives superior range & control over the machine's velocity. As a byproduct, it also reduces the noise level of the motor, which is especially good for indoor use. Bottom line is that if it's within your budget, I recommend it.
See it better - You'll hit it more often.
Hit it more often - Become a better hitting.
And better hitters become better players!
Better players seem to have more fun... and fun makes players better!
I guarantee that it can be difficult to watch a player struggle . . . at any age, at any skill level.I guarantee that I still light up when a player begins to recognize his improvement.
Poor hitters will become better hitters…Good hitters can become great hitters! Players will hit for a higher average, strike out less & become much more confident!
All players will improve… Some will improve dramatically! I truly believe this.
