The advantages of training with wood are huge and well documented. The most important aspects of it are finding good wood...and swinging with it regularly!
Here are some thoughts...
This tends to be the younger entry-level player. He is doing himself a huge service by simply owning and using it.
Here's a player who competes using wood, whether it is a wood bat tourney, in a wood bat league or he's just a serious player who swings regularly. He needs a cage/practice bat and a gamer, one stick that comes out to do battle. You sure don't want to break your gamer in the cage, right?
This is the serious player...who gets it! One for the cage, his gamer and his back up. Nothing will throw a player out of sync more than breaking a bat in the middle of a tourney, a game or even in the middle of an AB! This player breaks his gamer and he gets back to business without giving into a lousy AB or other negatives that can enter the mind.
Bats can break, though our Brett Bats hold together so much better than most all others. Some guys just don't understand the difference between a strike zone and an end zone, so having extra bats of all players' favorite sizes is a good thing!
