ABOUT THE COACH

Larry Giangrosso has coached his alma mater, the UAB Blazers, for four years and is a member of the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Prior to accepting the job at UAB, Giangrosso started the baseball program from scratch at Central Alabama Community College. In his nine years at CACC, 90 of his 102 players (88.2%) who played two seasons earned scholarships to four-year schools, including every sophomore from 1995 to 1999. Giangrosso coached at Berry High School in Hoover, AL from 1975-1990.

Giangrosso played for UAB as a catcher in 1973 and 1974, graduating from the Birmingham school in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He earned a master's degree in physical education in 1977.
