The Prodigy Series is for those players who are ready for their first good glove. This particular model is great for those players who want a huge pocket with great ability to stop a ball and who may prefer the ability to reduce the sting players get when a ball is not caught perfectly clean and in the right spot. (This happens to all players; the point is that this is a more accented consideration for those whom it happens to often).
All Prodigy gloves are easy to break-in, and have the Velcro grasp clasp wrist closure system that adjusts to all size players.
I believe that having control and a good lightweight feel is so much more of an advantage over a larger, heavier glove. A glove that is too large is the number one mistake I see parents making when purchasing for younger players!
Note: The one caution I give regarding this glove is that it just plain looks different. This style of glove is known as The Reptilian. The difference is derived from a near-fingerless look.
Inside the glove, your hand has a normal feel. But when you look at the glove pocket, it more resembles a shovel. This is what creates the larger padded pocket that many players will find allows them to catch and keep more balls!
